A sight to behold, in a white blood-stained fedora and smoking.

You are inside St Simon's Hospital, a children's hospital with bright murals across the walls. The building has been very strongly barricaded (8-10). There is a crowd of 58 survivors gathered here. [list names]

A portable generator has been set up here. It is running, and powering a radio transmitter that's currently set to 27.26 MHz. One of the wards has been decorated with a conceptual painting, a fire-damaged painting, a fish skeleton, a Grecian urn, a print of a tapestry, an earthenware vase, a European painting, a lizard skeleton and a bird skeleton.

Somebody has spraypainted Welcome to MCM! Cades at VSB please! onto a wall.

Since your last turn:

  • Toni Danza killed a zombie with a knife. (10 hours and 16 minutes ago)
  • Skip O'Fooer said "Aww, you killed the nice zombie, Toni. Not nice!" (9 hours and 27 minutes ago)
  • A flare was fired 5 blocks to the north. (7 hours and 52 minutes ago)
  • I blew up a possum said "I just saw a man die...it was very non-descript..." (5 hours and 3 minutes ago)
  • The lights came on inside St Chad's Church. (4 hours and 39 minutes ago)
  • Toni Danza said "Marc! Long time no see!" (4 hours and 7 minutes ago)
  • Toni Danza said "Now, what is this talk about a nice zombie again?" (4 hours and 7 minutes ago)
  • Craddle said "Heals! Get your heals here! Get them while their...um...infected!" (3 hours and 13 minutes ago)
  • twitched90 said "been asleep for ages now :/ ill come sign up mcm now :P you guys have been very nice to me :)" (1 hour and 51 minutes ago)
  • Eliphne said "*mutters in her sleep* ... z'mbie singin'... dancin'... not harmin'..." (1 hour and 38 minutes ago)
  • Eliphne said "*snore*" (1 hour and 37 minutes ago)
  • twitched90 said "now im never going to get to sleep :(" (1 hour and 26 minutes ago)
  • Craddle said "A guy outside could use some help methinks..." (1 hour and 23 minutes ago)
  • twitched90 said "if you have fuel can u put some in the dorm? its gen is running low" (1 hour and 20 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Welcome students. Totenmannskiste is my name, and I'm in no way a staff member of MCM. But I lecture anyway, as no one but Morbo tries to stop me, and Morbo isn't here right now." (45 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Today, I want to talk about the ways you can employ to gather intelligence on zombie numbers in your suburb." (44 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "You could go on a trad beat patrol and maybe follow the odd feeding groan. This is indeed the most reliable way, as what you see is without any doubt what's really up in the burb." (44 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "But that takes time and APs. As a survivor, you could also end up stranded if you don't know where to stop and miss the entry point." (44 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Especially for survivors, there's the NecroNet Access skill. The main use is to be able to revive rotters in lit NTs, but it also allows you access to the NecroNet map." (44 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "You know those handy, dandy DNA extractors? Whenever you take a DNA sample, the zombie in question is filed on the NecroNet map." (43 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "The result looks like this *flips flip-chart* http://iwrecords.urbandead.info/03-06-10_1200hrs_PUBLIC/IN_33-23__3be-be9-98e.html" (43 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "These numbers are accurate, but have two weaknesses. First, when a scanned zombie moves away, dies or gets revived, he vanishes from the map." (43 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Especially in burbs with hotspots with a high turnover, as mall or fort sieges, zombies in these spots fluctuate to quickly and wildly to be accurately shown." (43 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Second, it relies on people scanning zombies in the streets. Thus NecroNet is most useful in green suburbs where everyone can scan around at his leisure, and where you don't really need that data." (42 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "In a red suburb, where everyone is busy to find a hide-out and doesn't want to leave a scent trail to the ruin of his choice, few scan on the streets, and that in a place where you'd actually _need_ that info." (42 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "That is, if you can even find an operating NT in the first place, which is a luxury in a red burb..." (42 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "But there's also another way, this time one that is accessible to zombies: The Scent Death skill." (41 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "When you've learned it and sniff in the air, it looks like this *flips flip-chart* http://wiki.urbandead.com/index./Image:Scent-81-49.png" (41 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "If you want an explanation of the colors, than there's one on the SIM Map Page: http://sim.urbandead.info/index.?small" (41 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "SIM Map is anyway an useful tool, as it compiles the scent data of all contributors. Sadly it's underused these days. Apart from the MOB, others use it only at random." (41 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Generally, the brighter the green of a block is, the more zombies are there in relation to bodies. A bright red indicates a lot of bodies in relation to zombies." (40 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "You get a bright yellow if there's plenty of both. If a block is empty, then you get a signal in grey, maybe with a faint hint of red, yellow or green if there's a bit of stuff." (40 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "If you have Greasemonkey (which you should, as there are many wonderful scripts for it), there's also a script to turn the colors into more accessible numbers: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/53456" (40 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Scent Death is superior insofar that it doesn't rely on DNA scanning monkeys, it just receives the data from the game as it is." (39 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "There's a random deviation built in to leave you a bit uncertain about the actual numbers." (39 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "But in the dangerous burbs where you actually need to know, Scent Death offers in 8 out of 10 cases a more reliable picture than NecroNet Access." (39 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Another awesome feature is that you can search for zombies who are in your group. And by 'your group', I mean 'group you have as tag at the time of the scenting'." (38 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "So, of course it's pointless to find out where MCM or MCM Applicant zambahs are. But if your suburb is hit by RRF or MOB or Extinction..." (37 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Then it might be highly useful to find out at which building they are piling up, whether you are a survivor who wants to be out of the way, or a feral looking for easy snacks." (37 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "Even if you wish to stay a harman, it might be a good idea to purchase Scent Death once you are experienced enough to consider nice but inessential frills as Tagging and Radio Operation." (37 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "The 1AP to sniff while you sway at the cemetery might go a long way to inform yourself and others about current zombie numbers, especially if you temporarily adjust your group tag and contribute the data to the SIM Map." (36 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "That's all pretty straight-forward, but if there are questions, feel free to ask them as usual." (35 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "On a completely unrelated note, my penance is about to end. I'll leave tomorrow night after my good-bye song and go spread some death-culting terror at Fort Feral." (34 minutes ago)
  • Totenmannskiste said "The cookies they have in the MREs taste more like cardboard than the ones made here, but it's anyway more about grabbing trenchies by their dog tags and smashing them against walls, then about cookies and z!ng!ng." (32 minutes ago)
